Presidents Message for 2018

Welcome to 2018, and the season ahead...my second year as President of  our fine Union.

The County has a very healthy set up, both on and off the course. The 1st and 2nd teams have achieved considerable success over recent years and this is backed up by the impressive junior programme which continues to significantly encourage and develop young golfers by combining competition and coaching from 6 year olds, through the Little Imps, and then through to 18 year olds in the County Juniors bracket.

Off the course, the committed team of Officers and Executive members will continue to assist clubs and players alike in all aspects of the game including handicapping and course rating. Allied to this, along with our partners on the Lincolnshire County Golf Partnership (England Golf, Lincolnshire Ladies County Golf Association, Lincolnshire Professional Golf Association and The Golf Foundation) there exists a proactive 'cross-border' team who seek to nurture and develop the game, both for clubs and individuals.  Additionally, in 2017, Lincolnshire was selected by England Golf as one of four ‘pilot’ Unions looking at Junior Golf facilitation, and development across England, and was awarded on merit, in view of our existing structure(s) and the product already in place.

Having played in and around this vast county for 40 years, there are still a number of clubs that I have not visited, through playing or otherwise, so my aim is to 'complete the loop' this year...

In hoping that you will be able to support, as players or otherwise, the County competitions, matches and events, and the clubs hosting them, I do ultimately wish you a successful and more importantly, enjoyable golfing year in 2018.
