It is with great pleasure that I write this my first Presidents message. I want to start by thanking outgoing President Les Toyne and the Past Presidents of the Union for asking me to be your President. For those of you who don’t know me I am a member of Thonock Park, a club I joined in 1982 following a short membership at Retford GC where we lived on the estate adjoining the club. Following a move back to Rampton village I joined Thonock GC as many of my work colleagues were members there. I had the pleasure of being club captain in 2003 by which time my wife Ann and I had moved home to Gainsborough.
I first became involved with the LUGC in 1997 when I was asked to help out on the Competitions Committee and became County Secretary in 2006. I was involved with helping set up the Lincolnshire Golf Partnership in 2008 and am still a member of the group.I have enjoyed the last thirteen years as secretary tremendously and look forward to working with all the Officers of the Union and I send my successor as secretary Jim Lammin my best wishes.
I wish you all a great golfing year and look forward to meeting many of you on my travels around the county.
I want to conclude by thanking outgoing President Les for all his hard work and commitment to the County over the past two years.
